The base has the Hebrew inscription refering to the biblical incription, Lighting the Seven Lamps. This sculpture can be converted during the 8 nights of Hanukah by adding two bronze branches to either side. The lighting then is changed during Hanukah so the center candle becomes the Shamas and each night another candle glows until the eighth night when all nine candles are lit.

Note:  A Menorah may be modified for a smaller area so that only the seven candles are cast without the massive base. If a base is desired, one can be designed so that the height is thereby significantly reduced.
